This year, we’re continuing our festive tradition of donating cash to charity, instead of sending digital Christmas cards to our customers and associates.

It’s our way of supporting good causes at a time when many are continuing to feel the effects of the ongoing pandemic.

In fact, new research by the Charity Commission has found nearly all charities (91%) in England and Wales have experienced some negative impact from Covid-19. The effects of the pandemic include staffing issues and loss of fundraising income.

And that’s why our company has donated £300 to split between three deserving causes this Christmas.

Each member of the Churchill Taxation team has picked a charity to receive a £100 boost, and here’s a brief overview of why we chose each one…

Penny’s Army Marching to Disney

Just4Children is fundraising to make six-year-old Penny Mills’ Disney dreams come true. Penny, from Stafford, has a rare genetic disease called Sanfilippo syndrome, a type of childhood dementia that sadly means she may not live beyond her teens.

Nicole Andrews, tax director and co-owner of Churchill Taxation, said: “Penny is the niece of my university friend. Having a daughter of a similar age, I can only imagine what her parents are going through as her childhood dementia progresses. I’m proud Churchill Taxation has contributed towards the cost of getting Penny to Disney World (when Covid-19 allows) to make memories with her family.”

Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading independent cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence and information.

Emma Barnes, senior tax manager, said: “I’ve sadly lost close family members to cancer, so Cancer Research UK is a charity very close to my heart.”

Many Tears Animal Rescue

Many Tears Animal Rescue, based in Wales, has dogs in foster homes throughout the UK. It takes in and rehomes primarily ex-breeding dogs and it also cares for a small number of cats every year.

Stephanie Churchill, managing director and co-owner of Churchill Taxation, said: “I’m an animal lover and was keen to support this charity because it does such fantastic work.”
