Trusts and Estates

We can prepare trust tax returns, trust accounts and provide general advice for trustees and executors including completing Inheritance Tax forms for trusts and estates. We can also deal with all HMRC enquiries in relation to trust and estates.

We are able to work with:

  • Financial advisers
  • Other accountants
  • Solicitors
  • Executors and trustees

We always agree our fees upfront so there is no uncertainty around costs. As a guideline an hour’s time normally costs £100 plus VAT. However, as the fee is fixed up front, you will know what you will pay from the start

Planning with TrustsDespite many years of changes to the trust rules, they remain useful for a number of reasons.

There is a belief that trusts are “tax avoidance” vehicles. However, this is not the case. There are many reasons why individuals use trusts in their overall financial planning.

There are some inheritance tax benefits to using trusts in the right circumstances, but the vast majority of trusts are set up primarily for asset protection purposes.

Reasons for setting up trusts:Matrimonial protection – do you want some level of protection for children or grandchildren in relation to future marriages?
Will Trusts – do you want to protect assets after death rather than leave them outright to beneficiaries?
Education – do you want to assist you adult children or grandchildren with education costs?
Vulnerable persons – do you want to look after a vulnerable person financially?
Pension benefits – do you want to ensure your family receive pension benefits tax efficiently?
Inheritance tax planning – do you want to protect your assets from excessive taxes on death?
Personal injury funds – do you want to protect funds received for personal injury?
